Woman dies after collision in Northumberland

A woman has died following a serious collision in Northumberland at the weekend. Police were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the Military Road just west of Chollerford, Hexham, on Saturday (July 2nd).

Emergency services attended and all four occupants of the vehicles were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly one of those injured - a 78-year-old female passenger - has since died from the injuries sustained in the collision. The other three people involved remain in hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision and police are now appealing for witnesses. Sgt Steve Armstrong, of the Operations Department, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at what must be an incredibly difficult time for them. "Our enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened on Saturday and we would appeal for any motorists who were in the area at the time of the collision to get in touch."
