The Bottle Shop Bar and Kitchen's Waterloo Weekender will return on the 27th and 28th August, with street food, DJs, outdoor bars and market stalls.

The event, which first took place on Easter weekend earlier this year, will see stalls and food venues fill the square outside The Bottle Shop, with family entertainment giving way to DJ sets during the evening.

Food vendors confirmed for August's Waterloo Weekender include popular city centre burger restaurant Fat Hippo, crepery Flip'n'Fast, Indian eatery (http://www.sghettimonster.com/). In addition, The Bottle Shop will be serving food from their own kitchen.

Famous for their vast selection of beers and ales, The Bottle Shop will also host a cocktail bar during the Weekender, as well as operating an outdoor bar via their Tuk Tuk (auto-rickshaw).

The venue will also be asking their guests to crown their favourite beer in The Battle of the Breweries.

Well-known for its array of unique and rare beers, patrons of The Bottle Shop will be invited to purchase a competition card, which entitles the holder to three half-pints of their choice.

They will then be asked to vote for the beer they prefer, with the brewery with the most popular products being crowned the winner.

Children's entertainment, including face-painters and balloon artists, will be on hand to keep the kids amused, while on Saturday night one of Newcastle's best loved DJs SoulJam will be playing the best of authentic soul, funk and disco to keep revelers dancing into the night.

The Waterloo Weekender is a culmination of events at The Bottle Shop this summer, from street dancing to live music and comedy.

On Saturday 23 July The Bottle Shop will be serving up tasty food with DJ Phil Madden on hand to provide the soundtrack.

On Wednesday 3 August Britain’s Got Talent stars The Mimic Men perform at the venue alongside stand-up Matt Reed. Tickets are £3.

While the spirit of American hip-hop takes over Waterloo Square on Saturday 13 August as the venue welcomes live music, street dancing and graffiti artists to its all-day urban music event, with a themed menu also planned.

General manager Mike Morley said: "The last Waterloo Weekender went down a treat, and we're really excited about the planned expansion for this summer's event. It's a cracking way to spend the Bank holiday, with people gathering outside, enjoying live music and getting involved in all the interactive entertainment; there's a real sense of community to it.

"We've got so many new things lined up for the summer at the venue, there really is something for everyone. We're all about getting people to try new things, and not just beer! I'm looking forward to trying my hand at some graffiti myself!"
