Amazon has been asked to stop the sale of a controversial hoodie promoting eating disorders on its site.

The black jumper reads "Anorexia: like bulimia except with self control."

It's being sold for just under 20-pounds.

Tyneside counsellor Sharon Cox explains why this is so damaging;

“I think eating disorders are more complicated than people think, they’re certainly not about vanity,

“They’re really deep seated psychological problems that people really need help for.

“Having those sort of statements on hoodies just belittles the whole experience.”

Comments on the mega-retailer’s site show how the item has been received;

Hundreds of people on Twitter are sharing the hashtag #BoycottingAmazon in reference to the hoodie
