Two people die in Northumberland crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Northumberland.

On Friday, at about 3.35pm, police received a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a dark coloured Mitsubishi near to Simonburn in Northumberland.

Emergency services attended the scene and found that the male driver of the motorcycle and a female passenger who was riding in a side car, had sustained serious injuries.

They were treated by paramedics but sadly both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Specialists officers are supporting the family of the 68-year-old man and 72-year-old woman, who have tragically lost their lives in this incident.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was uninjured but was understandably very shaken by the incident.

An investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances around the collision and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

It has taken place opposite the New Kennels in Simonburn, in South West Northumberland, and officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the vehicles involved – during or prior to the collision.
