A community of runners will gather to remember a Northumberland man who passed away during the Great North Run.
2\9 year old Sam Wealleans was 2.1miles away from the finish line on Sunday 8th September when he tragically took ill.
Despite the best efforts of fellow runners and emergency services the young dad passed away.
Sam, who was from Newbiggin-By-The-Sea, was raising money in memory of his sister and friend with proceeds going to the charity MIND.
His target has been smashed and now sits at over £27,000.
After Sam's tragic passing a Facebook group was set up asking for people to "complete the Great North Run for Sam".
An original route had included the last 2.1miles of the course but South Tyneside Council had to put the brakes on due to health and safety concerns.
Organiser Stephanie Cochrane, from North Tyneside, has arranged a new route though.
She told us:
"Myself and some of Sam's family and friends will be meeting in his honour.
We will run or walk along the coast of South Shields, at 11am on Sunday 15th September.
The route will go from Trow Point car park, along the coastal pathway to the end point of where the Great North Run finished on the field along the path."
