Three children, including a 1 year old, in hospital after County Durham crash

A one-year-old baby boy has been injured after a three vehicle crash this afternoon.
The collision happened at around 1.30pm on A691 between Lanchester and Consett near to ESP Green Farm.
The vehicles involved were a black Vauxhall Zafira, a blue Ford Fiesta and a black Nissan Qashqai.
Three children and a woman, 29, from Lanchester who were travelling in the Zafira have all been taken to hospital.
The baby was admitted with head and arm injuries, a boy, eight, with facial injuries and a girl, 10, with abdominal injuries.
The woman was admitted with pelvic injuries.
The male drivers of both the Ford Fiesta and Nissan Qashqai were not injured.
The A691 between the junction with Maiden Law Bank and Delves Lane remains closed to allow for vehicle recovery and collision investigation.
Inspector Harry Simpson from the roads policing unit said
“I am keen to hear from anyone in the area at the time mentioned who saw any of the cars in the time leading up the collision or indeed the collision itself.”
