Teenager killed in Stanley crash
A motorbike and taxi collided on Saturday 5th October.
Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Stanley on Saturday October 5th.
Officers were called to the incident involving a taxi and a motorobike in Park Road, just after 8pm.
The motorbike rider and passenger suffered serious injuries and were both taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.
Sadly the driver of the motorbike, a 16-year-old boy, was declared deceased on arrival. His family have been informed.
The passenger, a 16-year-old boy, remains in hospital. The taxi driver is not believed to have been injured.
The road was closed for several hours and reopened early on Sunday morning.
An investigation is ongoing and officers want to thank members of the public who assisted at the scene, particularly those who gave initial first aid.
