Teen dead after motorbike hits tree in Newcastle
An appeal has been launched after the fatal crash in Walker last night
Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision involving a teenage boy.
At 9pm last night (Tuesday) police received a report that a motorcycle had left the road on Lancefield Avenue in the Walker area of Newcastle and collided with a tree.
Emergency services attended and the 18-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly he was later pronounced deceased at hospital.
The road was closed for a number of hours last night to allow officers to carry out their investigation but it has since been re-opened.
Enquiries to establish the cause of the incident are ongoing today and police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision.
The motorcycle being driven was a blue and silver Yamaha 125cc motorcycle which would have been travelling east on Lancefield Avenue when it crashed.
