Sunderland victory relegates Newcastle from Premier League

Sunderland have ensured Premier League as Newcastle and Norwich go down to the Championship.

Sunderland have ensured Premier League safety ahead of their final game of the campaign.

A 3-0 victory at home to Everton means both Norwich and Newcastle have been relegated to the Championship.

Manager, Sam Allardyce, said he was determined their fate wouldn't be determined on the final day of the campaign. He said:

“For us that’s pretty miraculous and there’s no way I wanted to go to Watford with anything so to the lads and all the staff thank you very much for that.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle United Managing Director, Lee Charney, said the club’s “devastated”. He said:

"I want to thank all of the fans for the support you have shown for the club you love throughout the season, in spite of this massive disappointment and under-achievement.
