Nick Rendell says he couldn't sit and watch when Russia invaded
A Sunderland man tells us he's helped at least 20 Ukrainian families as they flee the conflict with Russia.
Nick Rendell, 34, was born in Swansea but has travelled and lived back and forth between there and Sunderland.
He now actually lives in Germany where he works part time caring for children with challenging behaviours.
As soon as Nick heard about the crisis he stocked his car up (4 days ago) with essentials from the supermarket and off he went. He’s taken the time off work as holiday and will head back this coming Sunday.
He spends his days and nights using his own car to ferry people to refugee camps, he says it’s only “a little” thing he’s doing but hopefully it’s making a difference.
