Sunderland family vow to fight on as Government rejects Amber's Law
Amber Rose Cliff died aged 25 last year after being diagnosed with cervical cancer
More than two months since Amber's Law was raised in Parliament, Amber's dad has told us he won't give up - as the government say they won't change the law.
Darren Cliff's daughter Amber died from cervical cancer last year, aged just 25 - ever since he's campaigned for screening to be made available from 18.
It was raised in parliament back in January by Sunderland MP, Julie Elliot - the government have now replied to Darren and said that because cervical cancer screening is preventative, it's not suitable to use in young women with symptoms.
As it stands, the current age for cervical screen is 25.
Darren Cliff said:
"The letter states that the NHS provides one of the highest rates of HPV vaccine coverage in the world - which we obviously welcome - but this isn't the issue we're trying to address.
"We know from the volume of young women that contact ourselves that there are many, many similar cases to Amber's happening right now."
We have contacted the Department of Health and Social Care for a statement - and will update this page when we get it.
