A North East man is urging people to stop taking slimming injections after his wife ended up in hospital fighting for her life.
Peter Boyd, from Walker, told Hits Radio North East that if Vicky - his wife - did not call 999, she would not be alive today.
He said: "She took her first dose and then a few hours later she started to become unwell.
"Stomach cramps, really bad sickness and sick constantly for five days. She was really weak, tired, sweating and it went on from there.
"Just to see her the way she was - not like her normal bubbly self - in so much pain, agony and constantly being sick was horrible and I would never like to go through it again.
"I don't want anyone to go through it."
The paramedic told him that there have been two deaths and five critically ill from the side effects of slimming injections in the past week.
He continued to say: "We were lucky that she got the help at the time that she did, but the next person to take them might not be so lucky.
"There's plenty of other ways to lose weight, as these things at the minute sound like they're just wrecking people's lives."
