A woman from Newcastle who didn't recognise her cancer symptoms until after her diagnosis hopes to raise awareness for secondary cancer.

Anna Caufield was diagnosed with breast cancer but after getting a second opinion found out it had spread to her bones and liver.

Secondary cancer is caused by cancer cells breaking away from the primary cancer and growing in another part of the body.

She is encouraging people to follow their instincts if they think something isn't right.

Anna said: "I want to raise awareness of the different areas that it can go to. So your spine, your brain, your liver. Secondary breast cancer isn't as well-known as breast cancer itself.

"Get a second opinion if you feel like you're not happy with the answers that you're being given by your GP or your doctor. There are other options out there.

"I didn't recognise any particular symptoms prior to being diagnosed other than a lump in my breast. I'd always had a little bit of a bad back, but not anything that I didn't put down to just daily life and having children. "
