A Tynemouth man is taking on a fundraising challenge of running 128 marathons in 128 consecutive days in memory of his brother.

Leodhais Macpherson lost his brother Conor to suicide when he was just 18-years-old.

He is running 3,332 miles to symbolise the distance between Newcastle to New York City.

A place where his brother always dreamed of living.

Leodhais said: "I've always wanted to do something to honour my brother and to raise money for charity, so I decided to come up with this challenge.

"I was 18-years-old and went to bed one night with a brother and woke up the next morning without one.

"At the time I couldn't really understand what had gone on and within a family of four, we all lost a different relationship.

"It was catastrophic. I was only 18 and to go through something like that at 18-years-old was pretty horrendous.

"I was going through my A-levels and couldn't really understand it.

"I think that's a massive thing with suicide. It’s hard to really understand why it happens and you don't really get any answers.

"Even just being able to talk about it and raising awareness is huge really."

Leodhais says every mile he runs is for his brother, those struggling silently, and for the families who know the pain of suicide.

The challenge will end on the 2nd June which is Conors birthday.
