A woman from Cumbria has become the proud owner of a house in South Tyneside for the price of only £16.
Georgie Robinson, a 27-year-old from Carlisle, scooped up the property as part of a raffle being hosted by Adam and Liz Thwaites, from Sunderland.
The couple were selling their home in the hopes of raising funds for Grace House, a Sunderland charity providing respite care for children and young people.
Raffle tickets cost only £1, with the goal of raising £50,000 to give to the charity once the draw had taken place.
On a livestream on Facebook, the couple conducted the raffle on Christmas Eve, looking to add some festive cheer to the proceedings.
In total, 130,000 tickets were sold to win the house in South Shields, comprising of three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and living area, with a low-maintenance outside space at the back.
After announcing the lucky winner, Mr and Mrs Thwaites joked on a Facebook post: "Now we need to find somewhere to live".
Since the draw, a similar fundraising page has been set up to continue donating to the charity, specifically to help buy a wheelchair swing for disabled children.
The appeal has currently raised just over £1,000 of its £10,000 target and Grace House is continuing to campaign for more donations to help those who need it most.
