Rafa Benitez signs 3 year deal

Rafael Benitez will stay on as the Newcastle manager - despite their relegation to the Championship.

He'll extend his short spell in charge after agreeing a three-year deal on Tyneside.

Benitez says there were a lot of reasons that persuaded him to stay.

It was thought the Spaniard would envoke his relegation get out clause and take up a job in one of the top leagues around the world.

But the sway of the support and the absolute love he's had from the fans has had a huge effect on him.

Metro Radio joined the man himself at a press conference held on Wednesday evening at St James' Park.

The club confirmed he had put pen to paper on a new three year deal with terms detailing his total control of the club and stating what funds he'll be given to plan Newcastle's promotion back to the Premier League.
