A new boutique music festival dedicated to dance music is launching in Northumberland this June offering a lineup of some of the world’s best DJs.
The 3-day camping event - House of Barefoot Festival - is set to take place from Thursday 2nd June to Saturday 4th June 2022 - The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Weekend - on the grounds of a beautiful farm nestled away in the Northumberland countryside.
The calming, tree-lined site will play host to some of the biggest names on the international house music scene, including tech-house pioneer Danny Howells, multi-award-winning Spanish selector Henry Saiz, Bristolian icon Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, one of South America’s most celebrated DJs.
Offering camping, glamping and pitches for caravans and motorhomes, the festival promises to offer a full festival experience. The site will feature a stage with a state-of-the-art sound system, street food vendors and a number of fully licensed bars. Glampers will also have access to showers.
A boutique event, House of Barefoot will have a limited capacity, allowing ample space for festival-goers to relax and unwind while also providing an intimate club-like feel at its main stage.
Festival director Jonny Stobart is confident that the festival will be a sell-out.
“We want to keep the capacity at a level that means everyone has an amazing overall experience,” explains Jonny.
“We have no doubt that we will sell out and we’re sure that people will love the atmosphere and want to return year on year.
“This event is for people to socialise, make new friends, enjoy an array of different styles of house music and most importantly, dance. Our past events have brought together people of all ages, it really is all-inclusive.
“This for me is what it is all about; people coming together and enjoying the company of those they may never have had the opportunity to meet. That in itself is really quite special.”
With a reputation as “the DJs’ DJ”, Danny Howells has remained stoic in the face of ever-shifting trends and fads in dance music since he broke through into the global house music consciousness in the late-’90s. He doesn’t churn out productions to “remain relevant”, instead only releasing music as and when inspiration strikes.
The Spanish DJ Henry Saiz is the creator of a style that is a combination of his love for all things electronic with a deep passion for art. His music, as well as his work as a sound designer for film and TV has always been marked as forward thinking in approach and groundbreaking upon delivery. Henry's sound refuses to fall into a singular category, he takes in influence on many different levels and incorporates this into his live and DJ sets by forging a perfect balance of Electronica, Disco, House and Techno.
Nick Warren, meanwhile, is an English DJ and record producer. He is best known as a member of the electronic music duo Way Out West, his record label and global live events brand, The Soundgarden, and for his albums released in the Global Underground series.
If ever there was an artist who doesn’t need an introduction, it has to be the man known to music lovers the world over simply as 'El Maestro'. Throughout his rise to become both a foundation and a founding father of the underground house scene, the name Hernán Cattáneo has become synonymous with dedication, passion and an unwavering commitment to championing a unique quality of music that is hard to define, but instantly recognisable as his signature sound.
With more than 30 years of DJing, 11 albums, 30 singles and 50 remixes is the legacy of a uniquely powerful personal touch, he is a welcome addition to the House of Barefoot line-up.
House of Barefoot had its inaugural event in May earlier this year, headlined by Nick Warren. Following the success of its first event, the company hosted another weekender in August focusing on local talent.
Now, as the festival plans its return in 2022, organisers have expanded the scope and ambition of the festival as it prepares to welcome internationally renowned DJs to its open-air stage.
Jonny added: “This will be the first time that Newcastle has hosted a boutique dance music festival with some of the world’s best DJs on the lineup,” .
“This is an opportunity for us to sit firmly on a list of really special events that aren’t just a night out but three days worth of memories. This will be a once in a year experience not to be missed.”
Tickets are to go on sale Friday 17th December at 10 am and can be purchased via the festival's official website.
