Police stand-off in Whickham
Armed police have surrounded a house in Gateshead.
Officers have been at the scene in Carnation Terrace, Whickham, since just after 7am this morning.
Concerns were raised about a man who had locked himself inside a room.
There is a possibility that the man may have a weapon with him.
Residents have been told to stay inside as officers negotiate with the man.
