Police release further details about Heaton Park rape
Police investigating a rape in Newcastle are issuing further details about the incident in an appeal for information.
A 22-year-old woman was raped while walking alone in Heaton Park between 10.50pm and 11.10pm on Sunday, February 21, Officers now believe the attack happened on the path area next to Sambuca restaurant and opposite the bowling green. The suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall and stocky build. He was wearing dark jeans, a dark hooded top and had short blonde hair. He is described by the victim as having miscoloured, possibly even black coloured, wonky teeth. It is thought he fled the scene in the direction of the Blue Bell pub after the incident happened. CCTV enquiries in the area are ongoing and police are following up a number of calls that have been received from the public since the first appeal was made on Monday. Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who thinks they may have information that could help to come forward and report it - no matter how small or insignificant they think it might be - contact police on 101 and pass it on to the investigation team. Newcastle Superintendent David Felton said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who thinks they have any information that could help us identify this man to ring us straight away. "If anyone thinks they might know who this man is from the description we have issued then please ring us, anonymously if you wish, and pass any information on to the investigation team to follow up. "We have officers carrying out regular patrols in the park who are speaking to local residents, gathering information and to also offering reassurance to the community. "We will not stop until we find this man and arrest him for what he has done. We have a number of lines of enquiry running and it is only a matter of time before we find out who committed this horrific attack. "Newcastle is a safe place and we are determined to keep it that way. If anyone can help us identify this man then please get in touch and help us get him off our streets."
