Police launch a witness appeal after a man is assaulted in Newcastle

Police investigating an assault which left a man needing stiches are appealing for witnesses.

At around 1am on July 12, a 24-year-old man had been inside Switch on Scotswood Road in Newcastle when he was approached by an unknown male who has then struck him in the face, causing injury to his lip.

The offender has then fled the scene leaving the victim bleeding and needing stitches to his mouth.

Police have already carried out extensive CCTV enquiries and are now appealing to the public for information.

Officers have also released two images of a group of males they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. It is believed they were in the area at the time of the assault and might have information which can assist the investigation.
