Two sisters - based between Newcastle and London - are exploring the meaning of Home through a new creative project.

A Place to fall to pieces is a mix of music and storytelling, performed and created by Isobel and Anna Hughes,

The project started out at the Sage in Gateshead - and will be visiting Newcastle's Cumberland Arms as part of a tour, where the pair are also running creative workshops.

The pair tell us the show is a search for roots, and explores belonging, and began work on the show several years ago - finishing it off as part of their work at the Sage in Gateshead.

Anna tells us it will always have it's heart in the North East:

"The show itself - like, Izzy's between London and Newcastle - she comes up for rehearsals and things,

"But the show itself has always been, has always lived in Newcastle.

"We've taken that beginning place - what we've done, is we've taken folk stories and folklore from all the places we have been and used our own memories alongside those to write new stories."

Isobel reveals there is a bit of a difference between the theatre worlds in Newcastle and London - but that can be a good thing:

"The general atmosphere is - you've got to go to London

"'Oh you want to do theatre? Oh you must go to London then.'

"But I've really loved coming to Newcastle and rediscovering the community - that always was the thing which drew me to theatre in the first place - was the people."

As part of the piece, the pair are also reaching out to the public, asking us to share stories, songs, pictures and more that speak about our own places to fall to pieces, or reveal what home means to us.

While they have yet to reveal how they will be sharing these - they promise it will be "really special".

The show will be on at Newcastle's Cumberland Arms on the 4th of May.
