Pictures of clothing released in Newcastle murder investigation

Clothing images released as part of Heaton murder enquiry

Police have released images of clothing as part of an ongoing murder enquiry following the death of a man in Newcastle.

Detectives continue to investigate the murder of Steven Coulter, 59, who was found with a stab wound to the chest at his home on Heaton Hall Road in Heaton.

He was found at around 10.12am last Thursday morning (July 13) after police received a report of concern for his welfare.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances around Steven's death are ongoing and police have arrested a 45-year-old man who remains in police custody.

Now detectives have released photos of distinctive clothing worn by a man who was seen in the area around Heaton Hall Road on the weekend before Steven was found.

They want to speak to any members of the public who may have seen the individual wearing this clothing on the afternoon / evening of Sunday, July 9.

The individual concerned was wearing a distinctive red chequered jacket with black sleeves. He also had on a 'fedora style' straw hat.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Dave English said: "This sighting could be vital to this enquiry and we need to speak to anyone who may have seen an individual wearing this clothing on Sunday, July 9.

"We know he was in the area of Heaton Hall Road that weekend which is around the time Steven was last seen alive.

"Equally we need to speak to anyone who may have seen Steven himself on the weekend of July 8-9 as we try to piece together the exact circumstances behind his death.

"Our officers will remain in the area around the address this week to reassure anyone who has any concerns.”
