Pedestrian named after fatal collision in Gateshead

Police are now in a position to name the pedestrian who sadly died following a collision in Gateshead on Wednesday, January 24th.

Craig Morrow, 42, from the Gateshead area, was fatally injured after being struck by a black Volkswagen Golf travelling westbound on the A695 Ryton between Woodside Lane and Stargate Lane.

Specialist officers are supporting his family at this time.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene to assist with enquiries, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Force’s Motor Patrols team have already spoken to a number of witnesses, and are still keen to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam or CCTV footage.
