Olympians are set to inspire hundreds of students at a sports conference in Newcastle today.

Olympians gold medallist GB hockey star Alex Danson, bronze medal gymnast Amy Tinkler and Paralympic multiple gold medal winner Sarah Storey will all address an audience of over 400 girls at the national GSA Girls Go Gold annual sporting conference.

This year it’s being hosted by Newcastle High School for Girls, with hopes to provide girls with an insight into the world of high level and competitive sports.

The one-day event is being staged in two venues in Newcastle, NHSG’s brand new Senior School in Jesmond and at Northumbria University with a series of seminars, workshops and lectures offering the opportunity for girls who are keen sportswomen to meet their Olympic heroes and to learn about maximising their sporting potential and the range of career opportunities within sport.

Twenty-two schools from the Girls’ School Association from across the UK will be attending together with 14 North East schools from both the independent and maintained sector.
