OAP Sneak-in Burglary Charge

Two men have been charged in connection with a sneak-in burglary where the victim was a 94-year-old in Gateshead. On October 22 a house on the Leam Lane estate was burgled and alcohol and a purse stolen. The victim was a 94-year-old woman. Enquiries were carried out by officers and John Charlton, who is 28 and from Coltsfoot Gardens in Felling Gateshead, and Lee Alan Turner, who is 29 and from the Fossway in Walker Newcastle, have been charged with burglary. They will both appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on November 5. The charges come during the force's burglary month - #BeatTheBurglar - aimed at raising awareness in burglary, catching burglars and helping people keep burglars out of their homes
