#NUFC to be paid £500k if #Rangers Promoted

Published 31st Mar 2015

Remember when Glasgow Rangers loaned 5 Newcastle United youngsters in January?

Well more details from the deal have emerged.

Rangers have published their Interim Report today. The main points include the Glasgow club reporting losses of £2.7M for the 6 months to the end of December.

Season ticket sales are 24,589 with their average home attendance in the league 32,321which is the 13th highest in the UK.

The most interesting point for Newcastle fans comes in a section called "Contingent Liabilities:

"Newcastle Player Loans

During the January 2015 transfer window, the Club loaned five players from Newcastle United. As part of those contracts, should the Club gain promotion in season 2014/15, either directly or via the play-off method, the Club will be liable to pay a total of £500,000 to Newcastle United Football Company Limited.

As this liability is based on an uncertain future event, the Directors have not recognised this amount in these financial statements"

So, if Rangers are promoted Newcastle will pick up £100k each for the players they've loaned the Glasgow club. * *

Since the deal the only player to make a mark in Scotland is Haris Vuckic, the 22 year old Slovenian has scored 5 goals so far and has admitted he's open to staying in Scotland after his loan period comes to an end.
