A record six tonnes of beer heads to NX Newcastle for Carabao Cup final
Newcastle United fans will be packing out NX Newcastle this Sunday for a sold-out Carabao Cup Final Fanzone, as excitement builds ahead of the club’s return to Wembley to face Liverpool.
With thousands of Toon supporters unable to make the trip to London, the NX Fanzone has become the go-to destination for fans to soak up the matchday atmosphere, and this year, organisers are going bigger than ever.
A record six tonnes of beer have been ordered to keep up with the Toon Army’s thirst, as supporters get set to watch Newcastle United take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Final, kicking off at 4:30 PM. Adding to the occasion, Geordie DJ sensation Schak will take to the decks for an exclusive live performance, while a saxophonist will perform Newcastle United’s iconic anthem ‘Local Hero’ just before kick-off to send the atmosphere through the roof.
Biggest NX Fanzone Yet
This year’s Carabao Cup Final Fanzone sold out in record time, with organisers promising an unforgettable day for those lucky enough to secure a ticket. Doors will open at 1:00 PM, with fans able to relive some of Newcastle United’s legendary moments on the big screen while enjoying drink deals at the bar.
As the pre-match buzz builds, Schak – a lifelong Newcastle fan – will perform a special DJ set, bringing his signature high-energy style to fire up the crowd before kick-off. The DJ, who has built a massive following with his viral performances and connection to the city, has made no secret of his love for NUFC, and his set is expected to be one of the highlights of the day.
NX Venue Manager Luke Rushfirth said:
"Every time Newcastle United reaches a cup final, the city comes alive, and we knew we had to go all out for this one. The response has been phenomenal – tickets were snapped up in no time, and we’ve had to bring in a record six tonnes of beer to keep up with demand. If there’s one thing Geordies love as much as their football, it’s their beer, and we’re ready to serve up both in massive quantities on Sunday!"
A Local Anthem for a Local Club
One of the most anticipated moments of the event will come just before kick-off when a live saxophonist will perform ‘Local Hero’, the song that has become synonymous with Newcastle United. Originally recorded by Mark Knopfler, the anthem has been played as the Magpies walk out at St James’ Park for decades, and hearing it live on the day of a cup final is sure to create a spine-tingling moment for fans inside NX.
The saxophonist will also lead the crowd through two more classic NUFC chants to ensure the Toon Army is in full voice before the match coverage begins with full TV sound on.
What Fans Can Expect
Once the game kicks off at 4:30 PM, the atmosphere is expected to be electric as the match is shown on the big screen with full commentary. Fans will be able to enjoy drink deals throughout the day, with plenty of bars open to ensure quick service.
If the match goes to extra time and penalties, NX will extend the schedule accordingly, with entertainment keeping the crowd going throughout.
Strict Entry Policy
Fans attending the event are being reminded that last entry is strictly 3:30 PM, with no exceptions.
"We want to make sure everyone inside NX has the best possible experience, so it’s crucial that fans arrive in good time," added Luke Rushfirth. "The doors open at 1:00 PM, and we’ll have entertainment on throughout the afternoon to build up to the game. Once we hit 3:30 PM, we won’t be able to let any more people in, so we’re encouraging fans to arrive early and soak up the atmosphere."
With excitement reaching fever pitch and the city set to come to a standstill for the game, Sunday’s event at NX promises to be one of the biggest fanzone experiences Newcastle has ever seen.
