Northumbria Police are on the lookout for a new home for one of their pups - who couldn't quite make the grade as a police dog.

Alvin - a two and a half year old Belgian Shepherd - is described as an affectionate, loyal dog, who is full of energy.

After he didn't pass the police dog training, the force are hoping to help him find a new home as a pet.

The force say Alvin is a large, strong dog who responds well to commands but can show some aggression to other dogs - so would ideally need a home where he's the only one.

They say he'd love a rural or semi-rural setting with lots of space and needs lots of exercise.

Northumbria Police say people should get in touch via DogRehoming@northumbria.police.uk - and they will vet the applicants for suitability.
