Fans are calling it the most important game of the season - tonight Sunderland could be saved from relegation while Newcastle go down.

Big Sam’s team host Everton at the Stadium of Light tonight.

If they win, they’re safe from relegation. Meanwhile, Rafa’s side will be in the Championship next season.

Paul Dobson, from Sunderland Fanzine A Love Supreme, said:

“It’s our last home game of the season, it’s the last chance. It’ll be a full house near enough as it was at the weekend.

“The three points tonight are the biggest three points of the season from a single game, from before the kick off the place will be absolutely bouncing.

“That means that Newcastle and Norwich go down, the three places are sorted. It’s unfortunate for them but I guess for many Sunderland Supporters that we stay up at Newcastle’s expense.”

Steve Wraith, from Newcastle Legends, said:

“This season has been full of twists and turns. I think the most optimistic Newcastle fan would say that it looks like we’re in the championship but never say never.

“There’s an opportunity for Sunderland to slip at home. If they draw or get beat off Everton, then Newcastle do have a chance going into their final game.”
