#Newcastle - Tea and Togs is BACK!

Published 13th May 2015

Fashionistas across the North East are being invited to a special clothes swap and catwalk tea party to raise cash for a children’s charity.

Tea and Togs is hosted by charity Smile For Life and invites people to bring along unwanted clothing to swap, have a sparkling afternoon tea and watch a catwalk fashion show hosted by Love Niche Studio in Newcastle.

There will be stalls where guests can browse and buy – from jewellery to cosmetics, as well as listen to acoustic music from local musicians Lauren Shaw, Shauna Gallon, Lee Lamb and Abigail Tildesley.

Paula Gascoigne, Chief Executive of Smile For Life Children’s Charity, said:

“We are so excited to be holding our fifth Tea and Togs, and this year looks set to be the biggest and best yet. Guests can come along, have quality time with their friends, a glass of fizz, afternoon tea, listen to live music and get a new outfit for nothing – what’s not to love?

We are very lucky this year to be working with Love Niche Studio who are supplying the outfits and accessories for the catwalk show. Guests will see some beautiful clothing and also have the chance to purchase items from their pop-up shop.”

Nisha Vedhara, Designer and Stylist of Love Niche, said:

“It is great to be a part of Tea and Togs, it will be a wonderful day raising money for a fantastic local charity. This is a chance to get women together and celebrate being women.

Our ethos is always about women learning to appreciate their bodies, no matter what their age, size and shape. We want people to understand that they are wearing the clothes, rather than the clothes wearing them. We have ten ‘real’ women on the catwalk ageing from 20s to 70s who will certainly help to illustrate this.”

The fashion event is being held at the Novotel in Kingston Park 1pm – 4pm on Sunday May 17th.

Cash will be raised through ticket sales and raffle tickets and all proceeds will go to Smile For Life Children’s Charity, that helps disabled and disadvantaged young people in the North East.

Tickets are £15 and include a glass of bubbly, afternoon tea, live music and goodie bag.

To purchase call the Smile For Life office on 0191 2844166. Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis and are limited.
