Newcastle Money Expert Says Drivers Should Go Electric
A Newcastle money-saver says drivers in the North East could save money by swapping to electric cars.
A Newcastle money-saver says drivers in the North East could save money by swapping to electric cars.
Ashleigh Swan runs her own money-saving website and says going electric could save some families thousands of pounds a year.
The mum-of-three was given an electric car to test drive for a week by Go Ultra Low, who want to get more people making the swap.
New research today found that the average cost of a fuel car is 12p-per-mile, while an electric car costs only 2p-per-mile.
Ashleigh told Metro that there are more charging points popping up around the region, so she never has to go far to find somewhere to charge the car up.
She's now seriously considering making the swap.
She said: "If we did actually make the swap completely it would save us around about £1800.
"And you don't have to make the decision anymore of 'can I really afford to go on this day trip because if I do go there it's going to cost £30-£40 in fuel?'"
Ashleigh has plenty of other money-saving tips on her website at ashleighmoneysaver.co.uk.
