NE Campaigners Take Brain Tumour Petition To Downing Street

A Newcastle man who survived a brain tumour says a petition handed to Downing Street later could help save hundreds of lives.

Dan Howard has now been given the all clear - but says he was one of the lucky ones.

The petition is calling for more funding into brain tumour research and is the first of its kind EVER to be approved for an enquiry.

Last year, the issue received less than 2 percent of the money spent on cancer research.

Dan told us it’s one of the biggest killers of people under the age of 40, and yet it’s hardly spoken about.

“**The brain is a major organ it controls your whole body. In my situation I lost my right side I had to learn how to walk again and stuff like that. I don’t know why it’s not getting looked into a bit more, because it’s taking too many people. People don’t know that much about brain tumours, so you get asked loads of questions. But I can’t answer them because I don’t know that much about it myself.”
