A Newcastle theatre company, who explore issues around dementia, will be taking their new show into care homes around the North East next month

Milk, Two Sugars is an immersive play designed to highlight, and offer solutions to the issues of dehydration in residents

Liv Hunt is co-artistic director of Woven Nest Theatre, who explains what they hope will come out of the work - and have already seen;

"Care home staff actually coming up to us and saying 'I've noticed the hydration element and it's made us rethink things - alongside our creative activities we want to now offer more hydration as part of that'

"So for us, that's brilliant, that's exactly what this project is designed for."

Milk, Two Sugars is visiting care homes in Sunderland, Gateshead and Newcastle starting next month, with a public show at Arts Centre Washington.

Woven Nest worked with care homes across Wearside to create Milk, Two Sugars, telling us the idea to base the immersive show around a tea-trolley, came from speaking with care home staff and health care professionals about the issues.

Liv explains how important the work they do can be;

"We see time and time again, older people with dementia forming connections through puppetry or live music or story telling

"And it just shows that older people with dementia, can have huge capacities for creativity."

The play is visiting a series of care homes from the 4th of September until the 22nd. There is also a public show at Arts Centre Washington on the 8th of September, which anyone is welcome to attend.
