Man injured after hit and run in Benton
A man has suffered serious injuries following a hit and run in Benton.
The 24-year-old was found lying on the side of the road on Ashleigh Grove at around 5.35am last Wednesday (June 29). He is believed to have been involved in a collision and suffered serious, but non-life threatening, injuries during the incident. Police have been carrying out enquiries into the incident and believe the vehicle involved was a taxi, although the make, model and company were not known. Officers believe the same taxi was involved in a similar incident on Goathland Avenue in Longbenton earlier that morning.
