Man found guilty of South Shields murder

A South Shields killer is facing life behind bars after being found guilty of murdering a takeaway boss.

A man has been found guilty of murdering a South Shields takeaway boss.

Dad of two, Tipu Sultan, was shot dead outside his takeaway, the Herbs & Spice Kitchen at Lake Avenue, South Shields in April last year.

Michael McDougall, 47, of Hylton Avenue South Shields has been found guilty of murder, which he denied, after a three week trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Michael Mullen, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue in South Shields, the getaway driver, has been convicted of manslaughter but cleared of murder.
