Man, 79, dies after being hit by a car in Seaham

​A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Seaham.

The man, 79, was struckby a blue Vauxhall Agila on Middle Street in Blackhall Colliery at 10am today (Monday, October 10).

He was airlifted to Middlesbrough's James Cook Hospital in a critical condition but unfortunately died this afternoon from his injuries.

The road was closed to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident and re-opened just before midday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 126 of 10th October.
