Woman dies after collision with vehicle on main road in Gateshead
Old Durham Road will be closed for several more hours.

Police have confirmed a woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Gateshead.
It happened around 10pm last night (Thursday 25th Nov) here's a statement from Northumbria Police.
“Shortly after 10pm yesterday (Thursday) we received a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Old Durham Road, Gateshead.
“Emergency services attended but sadly a female pedestrian was confirmed to be deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified.
“An investigation is ongoing. The road is currently closed and is expected to remain so for several hours.”
