Magic Weekend returns to Newcastle after 2 years

The Rugby League's Super League big weekend is back at St James' Park today and tomorrow

North east business leaders are hoping this weekend's Magic Weekend celebrations in Newcastle will give the region's economy a welcome, post-covid boost

The 2 day event at St James' park sees 6 rugby league clashes between clubs from across the country, as all 12 teams in the Super League take part.

It's thought thousands of fans will be heading to the stadium - and the city's surrounding bars, restaurants and hotels - today and tomorrow.

Newcastle's held the event twice before this year, and proved to be one of the most popular locations to host with fans.

The fixtures are as follows:

SATURDAY 4th September

3pm: Castleford Tigers V Salford Red Devils

5:15pm: St Helens V Catalans Dragons

7:30pm: Leeds Rhinos V Hull FC

SUNDAY 5th September

1pm: Hull Giants V Wakefield Trinity

3:15pm: Wigan Warriors V Warrington Wolves

5:30pm: Leigh Centurions V Hull Kingston Rovers
