Longbenton man avoids jail for possessing child images
David Carey has been sentenced after pleading guilty to 13 offences
A pervert from North Tyneside has avoided prison after possessing thousands of indecent and extremely offensive images and videos of children.
34 year old David Carey from Longbenton also admitted distributing them.
He pleaded guilty to 13 offences.
He's been given a 2 year suspended sentence, a sexual harm prevention order and is now on the sex offender register for 10 years.
An NSPCC spokesman said:
“Behind every single online abuse image amassed by Carey is a child who has suffered a horrific ordeal in the real world. We know that growing numbers of people have accessed sexual abuse images and government, law enforcement, internet companies and others must continue to work to tackle this problem. It’s vital that Carey continues to be monitored and receives treatment to lessen any risk of him reoffending.”
