A North East theatre maker and creative is putting together a cabaret night in Newcastle - to create a space for female identifying artists to have a voice.

Rosie Bowden is bringing back her successful 'Lasses Kicking Ass and Feeling Gassed' night to Alphabetti theatre next week.

Four artists and creatives will take to the D'addario Stage on Tuesday 30th January.

Rosie tells us it's a good way for people to see new work, and for performers to collaborate:

"A lot of these artists are independent people, they are freelancers and so for them it's a really nice opportunity to come together,

"And for the people in the audience who might be freelancers or creatives to come and be in one place and just celebrate wonderful women."

She also explains it's important for women looking to make their way into the industry to see events like this - highlighting the work of female artists;

"It's really important because, when you are going into a creative industry or want to start being creative you see people like yourself, mirroring that - inspiring you.

"And I think - growing up, I never had a night like this that I would go to and think 'Oh I can do that!'"

The lasses kicking asses are:
