Killingworth Dad still waiting for MH17 answers, four years on
Today marks four years since North East men Liam Sweeney and John Alder were killed on the flight
The Dad of a Killingworth man, who died on flight MH17 four years ago today, says he's still waiting for answers.
Lifelong Newcastle fans Liam Sweeney and John Alder took the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur to see Newcastle United play in New Zealand.
All 298 people who were on the flight died when it was shot down over Ukraine in 2014.
Four years on, Liam and John's family and friends still don't have answers about what happened that day, and why.
Liam's dad, Barry, said:
"It's another poignant time in our lives I suppose - it doesn't seem four years, it always feels like yesterday.
"I've always said all I want to know now is why, just to finish that jigsaw off, and be able to move on.
"Tragedies happen, but unfortunately, we haven't found out why this happened."
It comes as G7 ministers call on Russia to "account for its role" in the downing of the Malaysian Airlines flight.
They said a joint investigation into the crash had produced "compelling, significant and deeply disturbing" findings on Russia's involvement.
A Dutch-led investigation found that the plane was struck by a surface-to-air missile controlled by a Russian anti-aircraft rocket brigade - but Russia said the conclusions of that investigation were "unfounded".
