PREHISTORIC predators have arrived in Newcastle today (Friday 22 September) as the UK’s first ever dino-tour Jurassic Kingdom opens its doors in Leazes Park.

More than 30 lifelike animatronic dinosaurs - including an 18m high, roaring T-Rex and a 16m long Diplodocus – can be seen snarling their jaws and swaying their tails for audiences of all ages at the family-friendly event, which runs from Friday 22 September to Sunday 1 October.

Naz Kabir, event director at Weli Creative – the organisation behind Jurassic Kingdom, said: “We’re thrilled to have officially opened Jurassic Kingdom to the public here in the North East, transporting audiences back in time to more than 65 million years ago.

“Our awe-inspiring dinosaurs give kids and adults alike the chance to experience the sheer size and scale of these fascinating creatures, embarking on a prehistoric adventure that’s both exciting and educational – we’re confident audiences will love it.”

Visitors can encounter the dinosaurs as they explore the Jurassic Kingdom trail through Leazes Park, uncovering epic life-sized dinosaur replicas from the Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous periods as they go, from T-rex and Triceratops to flying reptiles like pterosaurs.

Younger dinosaur hunters can also try their hand at digging for bones in an excavation area before learning about how dinosaurs lived, in the Jurassic Kingdom educational marquee.

Naz added: “As well as experiencing the thrill of being in the midst of these impressive and incredibly lifelike creatures, visitors can also learn about how dinosaurs lived, millions of years ago.

“It’s a unique chance for families and school visitors to enjoy an entertaining and educational day out, and get some truly unforgettable photos along the way, too.”

A variety of food and drink is available on site, as well as the opportunity for visitors to take home a memento of the day from the Official Merchandise unit.

Jurassic Kingdom opens to the public today (Friday 22 September) and is open daily from 10am – 6pm until Sunday 1 October. Last entry is at 5pm.

Tickets are available from www.jurassickingdom.uk. Prices start from £11.50 for adults, £10.50 concessions, £9.50 for children, and £38 for a family ticket.
