Jail For ASBO Breach

A man has been jailed after breaking an injunction over an ongoing neighbourly dispute in North Tyneside. Michael Burn, 65, was sentenced to five weeks in prison after he broke an anti-social behaviour injunction handed to him at Newcastle County Court last December. It followed an ongoing dispute with a neighbour at West Wynd Farm in Longbenton where Burn threatened his victim with violence, put their washing in the bin and pelted them with eggs. Police had visited the property a number of times and were able to prosecute the offender after working in partnership with ISOS housing association. On Thursday, July 23, Burn appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates Court where he was jailed after admitting breaching the injunction. Inspector Ray Smith, of the Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

"This is a great example of positive collaborative work with one of our partners. The conviction follows a lengthy investigation and we are pleased this offender was put before the courts and handed a custodial sentence. We will continue to take all matters regarding neighbourly disputes seriously and this case shows that we take these types of incidents extremely seriously.
