Back after a year away - the 40th Great North Run took place in the North East yesterday
There were fabulous costumes and every variety of charity supporters running tops flooding the streets of Newcastle and Gateshead yesterday as the Great North Run returned.
Postponed in 2020 because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the run was back this year with a slight route change - instead of starting in Newcastle and heading to the coast to finish at South Shields, this year the runners left Newcastle and headed through Gateshead, turning around at Whitemare Pool roundabout and coming back over the Tyne Bridge - finishing at Newcastle's Town Moor.
