The big day has arrived - and the sun is expected to shine over the Great North Run (at least - for the morning).
Around 60 thousand runners will be lining up along Newcastle's central motorway in a couple of hours, ready for Newcastle manager himself Eddie Howe to kick start the race.

Leading the pack, and hoping for his 7th win, will be Sir Mo Farah, in his final competitive race.

The Great Run company estimates over £25 million is raised for charity every year from the Great North Run.

There are lots of road closures in places throughout today - all along the route from Newcastle city centre to the South Shields finish line.

Tyne Bridge
Two friends, Derick Jackson and Graham Ravenhall, are raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust... by running with the Tyne Bridge!

Meet sisters Jenny and Jackie from Derbyshire dressed as a Tardis and a Dalek. Jenny told our reporter she pinched the costume from her kids - while Jackie made hers from scratch!
'The Man With The Pram'
Here's John- better known as 'The Man With The Pram'. He's raised over 1 million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support - a cause close to his heart as he lost his wife and daughter to the disease. The pram he pushes with him was his late daughter's. He told our reporter that taking this pram with him makes him 'feel closer to her'.

TJ is in this costume - although you can't really see him and he can't really see out either! He's got himself into this costume for his niece and sister who have muscular atrophy. He wants to raise awareness of the condition and direct people to Muscular Atrophy UK.
