Generation eXpresso

Had your first cup of coffee yet?

How many do you drink a day? If it’s four or more - you’re addicted!

That's what personal trainer Kevin Walker from Benfield has told us.

He helps wean his Model Health Performance clients off caffeine - after struggling with his own addiction three years ago.

Now he helps others who’re fully fledged members of Generation eXpresso - some of his clients are drinking 10 cups just to get them through the day.

Coffee can come with different doses of caffeine in them, from around 60mg in an espresso shot to up to 200mg in a mug.

Kevin wants better regulation on how much people can drink a day but warns it will be different for everyone, just like alcohol.

“I experienced first-hand what it felt like when I came off it. I probably should have weaned myself off but I went cold turkey. I got headaches, I felt sick… it’s definitely an addiction in my eyes.”

“We’ve all got stressful jobs, and sometimes if we’re lacking energy we could either go and get some good quality food or go to the nearest stall and get a coffee to pick us up. That’s convenient isn’t it, that’s where the problem comes.”

“If you keep using coffee too much but don’t put fuel into your body to recover that, eventually something is going to give.”
