Gateshead assault left victim with puncture wound to his back
A man has been arrested after an assault in Gateshead which left a 38-year-old in hospital with a puncture wound in his back.
The attack happened as the man was walking along Derwentwater Road at 10.40pm last night (Sunday, April 10).
He was approached from behind and assaulted as he was heading in the direction of Teams Social Club.
The victim has a puncture wound in his upper back, but is in a stable condition.
A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and is now in custody.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw the incident to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1266 10/04/16.
