Fat Hippo, a group of independent burger restaurants found in the North East, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leeds, has released their own nationwide DIY burger kits.

The company, who specialise in the best burgers, loaded fries and more ‘good old fashioned, roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face’ food, are now offering ‘Fat Hippo at Home’ kits, available to purchase online.

Customers all over the UK can re-create the signature burgers in their own kitchen using an easy-to-follow recipe and sensibly sourced ingredients from the company, including their own signature Fat Hippo sauce.

Each kit comes with everything needed to make the burger joint’s namesake ‘Fat Hippo’ burger (double patty, smothered in American cheese, smoked bacon, chorizo, and their signature Fat Hippo sauce).

There is also the option to add Fat Hippo’s own popular in-house Hillbilly Lager or Proper IPA to the order.

For those looking for a plant based option, a vegan DIY kit is available to cook up the ‘Oprah Sin-Free’ burger (double plant based patty, vegan cheese, Cajun Fakon bits, and vegan Fat Hippo sauce).

Michael Phillips, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010, said: “The last year has been difficult for all businesses, especially the hospitality sector, and now we’re back in lockdown, we want people, especially those who may not have access to our takeaway services, to still be able to get their Fat Hippo fix.

“Our DIY kits are the perfect opportunity to get your chef on in the kitchen and enjoy our ‘good kind of gluttony’ at home.”

The family friendly burger joint, famed for its quality ingredients and quirky flavours, now has seven sites in the North East, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leeds. Their Fat Hippo Fleet also travels all over the UK, bringing their renowned burgers to thousands of national events.

Fat Hippo will open a brand new concession based in Great Northern, Manchester soon and there are exciting plans to continue growing with further sites being established across the country.

During the restrictions, the burger restaurants have remained open for takeaway, offering a Click and Collect service to customers as well as working closely with Deliveroo.

Michael Johnson, the company’s Operations Manager, said: “It was only a matter of time before we launched our Fat Hippo at Home DIY kits, particularly in the current climate. We’ve worked closely with suppliers and distributers to ensure our ever-growing herd of burger lovers can enjoy the Fat Hippo experience from their own kitchen”.

Limited quantities of the Fat Hippo at Home DIY Kits are available from https://fat-hippo.mytoggle.io/ from TOMORROW - MIDDAY FRIDAY 12TH and are restocked every week.
