The family of a woman found dead in Gateshead last night (Wednesday, October 12) have paid tribute to her. Alice Ruggles, 24, lived on Rawlings Road in Gateshead but was originally from the Leicestershire area. In a statement, her mother, father, sister and two brothers said: "Alice saw the fun side of everything, she had an infectious personality and an incredible sense of humour. "She was kind, clever and beautiful; we are struggling to come to terms with the fact that she is not with us anymore. "She loved life, loved her friends and loved her job. She had so much to live for. Nothing, nothing can ever replace her." Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing and a cordon remains in place at the scene to allow detectives to carry out their investigations. A 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, October 13) and remains in police custody. Officers still believe this to be an isolated incident and those involved are known to each other. There is not any danger to the wider public. If anyone did see anything suspicious in the area on Wednesday afternoon then they should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 843 12/10/16.
