The Durham-based alt-rock outfit Prince Bishop returns with an infectious new single, ‘Roman Roads’, a guitar-laden, psyche-rock inspired track that follows the band’s celebrated 2021 single ‘Come Alive’.

Channelling influences like Foo Fighters, The Amazons and Rush, Roman Roads once again illustrates the unique sound that Prince Bishop has been crafting since their inception.

Featuring a joyous, falsetto-driven chorus, Roman Roads encourages listeners to forge their own path and embrace the inevitable bumps in the road.

"I wanted to write a song about how the best lessons are those which are hard-won.” Prince Bishop frontman Ben Trenerry said. “We live in a world of easy wins, but nothing worth having is easily attained is it?

“We live in the North of England, where there are still many Roman roads. What characterises them is how straight they are, but built to be the shortest distance between two points. The idea behind the song is that I wanted to make the point that in this fast moving world, we're always in such a hurry to get to our destination, we rarely stop to look around. We can miss the detail and the beauty of the ride.”

Described by Gigslutz as “anthemic” and “epic”, Prince Bishop’s previous release, Come Alive, garnered praise from alternative music critics including RGM and The Other Side magazine. The single, along with the band’s recent release, are taken from their upcoming debut album ‘All Is Due’.

The album was written and recorded before the pandemic briefly derailed the band and the planned album release. Trenerry feared that the album would never be released, but after two years of hard graft, the band are now on track to release their anticipated debut album in May.

Trenerry added: "We want to make records that capture the spirit of our live sound, records that sound vibey and exciting. This song is great to play live and now the pandemic is behind us, we can't wait to get back to it.”
